Cultivation Method
Sowing Time :
Sowing can be done in June–July and also in February–March.
Seed Variety :
Saga Shridhar, Sama Shrikant
Plant Spacing :
Maintain 30 to 45 cm between two rows and 10 to 15 cm between two plants.
Seed Rate :
5 kg per acre.
Fertilizer Requirement :
Apply 20 kg of NPK or DAP per acre.
Weed Control :
Carry out hand weeding and intercultivation at the proper time.
Disease & Pest Management :
Treat seeds before sowing and regularly monitor the crop. Spray suitable insecticides to control sucking pests as required.
Harvesting for Green Fodder :
First cutting at 45 to 50 days at 50% flowering stage. Second cutting should be taken every 30 to 35 days thereafter.
Estimated Green Fodder Yield :

Note :
For timely harvesting in fodder crops, cross-cutting should be done 4–5 inches above ground level. After cutting, apply nitrogen fertilizer and irrigate to ensure proper regrowth and timely next harvest.
