Cultivation Method
Sowing Time :
Sowing can be done in June–July during the Kharif season. For the summer season, sowing can be done in February–March, and sometimes also in September.
Seed Variety :
Saga Amul / Saga Sumul / Saga Mahi (Gundari Desi)
Plant Spacing :
Maintain a spacing of 25 to 30 cm between two rows.
Seed Rate :
25 to 50 kg per acre.
Fertilizer Requirement :
Apply 20 to 25 kg of NPK or DAP per acre. Farmyard manure can also be applied. Carry out hand weeding or intercultivation.
Weed Control :
Perform hand weeding or intercultivation as required.
Disease & Pest Management :
Regularly monitor the crop and spray Neem oil as needed.
Crop Duration :
70 to 120 days.
Harvesting for Green Fodder :
Harvest after 30 days in winter, 25 days in summer, and at 60 to 70 days at full growth stage.
Estimated Green Fodder Yield :
High yield.
