Cultivation Method
Sowing Time :
During Kharif season in the months of June and July.
Seed Variety :
JS-335, KDS-726 (Phule Sangam), Saga Phule Maharaja and other notified varieties.
Sowing Spacing :
30 to 45 cm between two rows and 5 to 10 cm between two plants (spacing may vary depending on the variety).
Seed Rate :
20 to 30 kg per acre (may vary according to the variety).
Fertilizer :
Apply NPK (12:32:16) at the rate of 25 to 50 kg per acre.
Weed Control :
Hand weeding and intercultivation should be done. Pendimethalin can be used as a pre-emergence herbicide.
Disease / Pest Control :
Treat the seeds before sowing and apply suitable insecticides and fungicides at the proper time as required.
Crop Duration :
90 to 110 days. The crop is ready for harvesting when the leaves turn yellow and the pods become brown. The maturity period may vary depending on the variety.
